Picture of Yesterday's Storm

Here is the picture that I promised of yesterday's storm as it came over the ridge.

Important Jamboree Schedule Change

Due to a forecast severe weather this evening, the stadium show has been rescheduled.  See this link for the Jamboree Today to find an article with more information:  http://jamboreetoday.scouting.org.

You should be able to watch the show live at http://jambolive.org.

Garden Ground Trek

Troop D211 trekked to Garden Ground today.  Between the lightning alerts, they enjoyed Scottish Highland games, Black Powder Rifle, and many more adventures.  We have a group shot picture by Mr. Altnether when they arrived, but I have not been able to upload it to the blog tonight.

Tomorrow is curriculum day for our boys.  They will be at the front of the line for all the activities in their chosen area.  I look forward to hearing the stories.

Jamboree Day 4

It's 9:40 AM on a foggy day 4 at the Jamboree.  Where is Troop D211?  They are hiking to Garden Ground, the summit of The Summit.  The trail is over 5 miles long with about a 1000 foot climb.

Your blogmaster is taking it easy today, close to his cot, after volunteering at the rifle range all day yesterday.  Luckily, that service did earn me a ride back on the staff bus and a Harley Davidson shoulder patch from Three Harbors Council.

Jamboree Happenings

I know that you have not heard from us in a few days. We're well, but very busy.

Yesterday started with a 4 AM wake-up.  Our bus left the hotel in Alexandria, VA close to 6 AM.  After a scare with low coolant, we breezed through registration without issue and arrived at our campsite a little after 2 PM.

Campsite setup took the rest of the afternoon with dinner being served around 8 PM in time to watch the sunset.

The opening stadium show this morning helped raise every one's spirits as the Jamboree was officially opened.

Check for pictures on the BSA's flickr page here.

If you missed the live web cast of the stadium show, please check for a possible on demand replay at jambolive.org.

Daily news items are posted at jamboreetoday.org.

While we are not taking quite as many pictures since arriving , we are taking a few.  The challenge is getting enough power and bandwidth to post them.  Be assured that another website and/or DVD will be created after everything is over.  I will figure out a way for everyone to submit pictures and get them out to everyone else sometime this fall.

Tomorrow, many members of the troop will be white water rafting.

Go big!  Get wild!
